To: Colorado state legislators and the governor
Nearly everyone in prison comes home. We ask Colorado to make every prison an accredited place to learn — job training and education that end in a recognized credential, open to everyone held there. A RAND review of decades of studies found people who took part in prison education had 43% lower odds of returning to prison than those who didn't, and that it can save money by keeping people from coming back.

When it reaches the goal it’s handed to the officials named above at a public meeting, and their answer is posted online. This is a petition to your elected officials — like the clipboard at the courthouse door. It does not put anything on the ballot; that takes the state’s official petition process. Names are never shown publicly. County Commons — an independent, nonpartisan public-records project.
