Keep calls from prison and jail affordable, and keep in-person visits

A petition to your members of Congress, started by Brayden Sanders, founder of County Commons on 2026-10-24.

Why it matters

Staying connected to family and friends is one of the best things for people inside and for the neighbors they come home to. A 2022 law passed with support from both parties let the FCC cap the price of prison and jail calls; the caps set in 2024 were raised in October 2025. We ask Congress and the FCC to keep calls affordable — and to keep in-person visits from being replaced by paid video.

What’s happened

Raised by residents — not yet carried to the county.

This is a petition to your elected officials — like the clipboard at the courthouse door. It does not put anything on the ballot; that takes the state’s official petition process. Signatures are counted, not verified — one per browser; the delivered copy removes duplicates. Like everything here, petitions can’t campaign for candidates or ballot measures, or name county staff.
